    Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation ()

Combining the genre's more modern traits with old school aesthetics Thornafire have produced a record that will appeal to both fans old and new that like their death metal catchy, brutal and grim. From faster cuts such as ‘Curse Of the Supreme' to the more funereal atmospheres of ‘Punishment to Advent' this record has something for everyone. With impressive technical mastery and high quality songwriting craft Thornafire sound like the second coming of Krisiun, although this trio's attack is more varied and it's tempo more deliberately paced. The production is solid with a broodingly audible bass-heavy sound, a crunchy guitar tone that is earthy, clear and sufficiently heavy, while the drums remain clear through out. The addition of slower, doom sections and great harmonies and guitar leads set Thornafire apart from the faceless competition who forgot these facets that ran rampant in the genre in the early ‘90s. Add to that the neat looking packaging and lay-out and "Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation" sets itself apart from the competition by a mile. This record isn't breaking any new ground, but it's great to hear an occult death metal record done right by skilful and passionate musicians. Given that Thornafire further hone their craft and expand upon the themes and concepts explored on this record, they'll soon have a chance to become Chile's primary death metal export. Another great find by Incantation mainman John McEntee. Without a single doubt one of the better pure death metal records of 2007. Be sure to pick up a copy of this record, if you can find it.
