Decayed is probably Portugal’s oldest and most respected black/death metal act. “Chaos Underground” combines the ungentle riffing of Immortal’s “Pure Holocaust” with the compositional scope of Mayhem’s “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” and demonic vocals that recall Satyricon’s “Dark Medieval Times” and “The Shadowthrone”. Under that thick layer of Scandinavian black metal runs a current of old school German thrash - and early European death metal. Much of Decayed’s strength comes from simplicity of form and adhering to old school genre aesthetics. Much like earliest Sepultura (“Bestial Devastation”, “Morbid Visions”) they write songs within the framework of their abilities, the result is that these songs might not be textbook examples or masterclasses in technical know-how, but are far more convincing because of the band’s conviction and honesty. Acoustics, chiming funeral bells, female vocals, church organs and eerie keyboards all make their appeareance, but only in function of the atmosphere they invoke or to support the song in question. Restraint is Decayed’s biggest strength and that should be applauded. “Chaos Underground” is another worthwhile effort in this long-standing acts potent history. Includes all tracks from the “A Sacrifice to Darkness” split CD with Alastor, originally released in 1998 and features two cover tracks (Mercyful Fate’s ‘Black Funeral’ and Bathory’s ‘You Don’t Move Me’). Lusitian black metal at its finest!

...co do saksofonu to był to przypadek całkowity. Bo idąc coś zjeść do miasta napotkaliśmy kolesia który na ulicy grał na saksofonie. Zagadałem do niego żeby nagrał nam jakieś partie i zgodził się. Oczywiście nie miał pojęcia na co się porwał, do tego komunikacja nie była najlepsza, bo okazał się być obywatelem Ukrainy i język polski nie był dobry albo w ogóle go nie było...
