Forming in France in 1994 Blut Aus Nord (German for 'Blood from North') is one of the earlier black metal acts of that area and perhaps the most interesting before the regional black metal boom in the new millennium. They started out more traditionally with a pair of albums (1995's "Ultimate Thulée" and 1996's "Memoria Vetusta I") that sounded more typically Scandinavian in both their atmosphere and slight Viking leanings, reminiscing of both (early) Enslaved and (later) Bathory in that aspect. After formulating their presence Blut Aus Nord opted for a more abstract and enigmatic sound on subsequent albums. The first part of this transformation came with 2001's landmark "The Mystical Beast Of Rebellion" – a record that took the template of early Emperor ("Wrath Of the Tyrant", "In the Nightside Eclipse") and added discordant dissonance, hypnotic riffing and barbaric drumming to create a truly abyssal and incessantly funereal atmosphere that few were able to match or surpass since. Where a lot of contemporary black metal acts falter is that they don't possess the compositional skills that graced the pioneers of this genre, in that respect Blut Aus Nord immediately proved to be different. Debemur Morti is now re-issueing this legendary album with improved artwork, in celebration of that joyous event the band have taken the effort to record three new tracks (Chapter 7, 7, 7) totalling an extra 37 minutes completing the vision initiated nearly a decade ago, making this a double album instead of the original one disc recording. Even a decade later "The Mystical Beast Of Rebellion" still holds up well against any of the classic records that inspired it. Moreso, it has proven the staying power of this band and record in regards to how little the black metal scene has actually changed since this record's original release. "The Mystical Beast Of Rebellion" is a timeless black metal record that can confidently sit next to any albums of the established institutions of this genre. Blut Aus Nord prove once again why they are the best band France has to offer.

...co do saksofonu to był to przypadek całkowity. Bo idąc coś zjeść do miasta napotkaliśmy kolesia który na ulicy grał na saksofonie. Zagadałem do niego żeby nagrał nam jakieś partie i zgodził się. Oczywiście nie miał pojęcia na co się porwał, do tego komunikacja nie była najlepsza, bo okazał się być obywatelem Ukrainy i język polski nie był dobry albo w ogóle go nie było...
