Pestilence - "Chronicles Of the Scourge"
Metal War Productions
Holland
Featuring two live shows from '88 and '89 Metal War Productions has unearthed a truly vital piece of classic death metal history. Released with full permission and cooperation of ex-vocalist/bassist Martin Van Drunen "Chronicles Of the Scourge" captures Pestilence in all their raw glory at two separate shows in Holland and Germany, respectively. Both shows display their fair amount of classics, with the 10 track Holland show focusing more on the then freshly released "Consuming Impulse". Before the usual instrumental intro ‘Antropomorphia' the band kicks off their set with a frightingly intense guitar interpretation of the main theme from the 1980 Lucio Fulci splatter classic "City Of the Living Dead". The 8 track German show primarily contains material of the band's legendary debut "Malleus Malleficarum". The sound quality for both shows is exceptionally good, considering the time they have been recorded. Additionally, this disc contains a previously unreleased version of the track ‘Consuming Impulse'. Design, artwork and lay-out fit with the stage of their career Pestilence was in at the time. Be sure to pick up a copy of this essential piece of classic death metal history, as it is strictly limited to 1000 copies worldwide.
