Zaczynając od końca - świetne partie O'Malleya. Facet zagrał naprawdę ciekawie. Do tego wyborny Attila (szczególnie w pierwszym utworze) i organy kościelne. Czegoś takiego jeszcze nie robili. Wspaniały przykład dla wszystkich, którzy twierdzą, że Sunn O))) gra cały czas to samo

Aj, tu mnie zagiąłeś. Równie dobre jak Altar, lepsze niż Pentemple. Nie takie gęste jak to ostatnie, momentami bardziej oczywiste (vide pierwszy utwór). Wydaje mi się, że więcej w tym treści, nie czuć improwizacji, całość zrobiona według sztywnych ram. Tak czy inaczej - klimat zabija. Attila rozwija patenty ze Skyquake i robi to doprawdy niesamowicie. No i ten O'Malley i jego partie w drugim utworze - jestem urzeczony.

SUNN O))) release details for “Monoliths & Dimensions”

SUNN O))) is proud to present their 7th studio album, after 10 years of existence, entitled Monoliths & Dimensions. The album showcases the core guitar duo - Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson - incorporating influences from a plethora of guest musicians, bringing the SUNN O))) sound to epic new levels. The band also collaborated with composer Eyvind Kang (notable for his work with John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell, etc.) on various acoustic ensembles, in addition to the Helios fueled electric guitars and basses. Key players on the album include Australian guitar genius Oren Ambarchi, enigmatic Hungarian vocalist Attila Csihar (Mayhem, Tormentor, etc.) and slow music godfather Dylan Carlson (Earth), as well as Julian Priester (worked with Sun Ra in the 50s, John Coltrane’s African Brass band, and Herbie Hancock’s Sextant band) and new-music horn player Stuart Dempster. There’s also an upright bass trio, French & English horns, harp & flute duo, piano, brass, reed & strings ensembles, and a Viennese woman’s choir led by Persian vocal savant Jessika Kenney.

The album is not “SUNN O))) with strings” or “metal meets orchestra” material. The band took an approach concentrating on more of allusion toward the timbre of feedback and the instruments involved, so the piece is really illusory, beautiful and not entirely linear, stating that the end product is “the most musical piece we’ve done, and also the heaviest, powerful and most abstract set of chords we’ve laid to tape” The album was recorded and mixed by Randall Dunn & Mell Dettmer at various points over the last 2 years, and will be released late May 2008. Monoliths & Dimensions is practice in density, gravity and momentum.

Będę optymistą, to może się udać. W końcu najbardziej lubię te materiały zakapturzonych, gdzie przełamywali programową oszczędność środków i minimalizm.

Mi chodziło bardziej o pewna maniere ktora na tym forum staje sie coraz bardziej widoczna - plyta nawet sie nie ukazala, mamy do dyspozycji zaledwie okladke i jakistam opis a tutaj juz pojawiaja sie głosy o plycie roku. Ile ja sie naczytalem, ze oto nowy Darkthrone i Satyricon sa plytami roku (zanim sie ukazaly), po czym te glosy zanikly po premierze. Nowy C93 - plyta roku, Funeral Mist - plyta roku, Archgoat - plyta roku. Czasami przypomina to jakis zwariowany, niekonczący sie konkurs czyj typ 'wygra'

W sumie obojetne mi co dla was jest plyta roku i przy czym najgłośniej strzelają naplety, ale śmieszą mnie tego typu 'zapowiedzi'

SUNN O)))s M&D opus is birthed. sunn100. You can now order the album via Southern Lord on CD format (vinyl release TBO, probably late summer). Also available are some tshirts & hoodies featuring qlipothic art via Timo Ketola (also present on the CD layout), all art directed by yours truly. Please note that all CD & vinyl versions of the album contain the same tracklist & mixes, there are no bonus audio materials for this album. The SLR jewelcase CD version is a great package and tactile experience with vellum stocks & ocard. Japanese edition, again by Daymare, is beautifully and elaborately packaged in a mini-gatefold LP package with oversized vellum obi, 4 "art cards" and a poster. The bonus material on the Japanese version this time is "bonus artwork".

We are preparing tours as a 4 and 5 piece in support of this opus. Attila Csihar and Steve Moore will be in the ranks as well as a yet undecided 5th member for some shows. Randall Dunn will be on the big guns.

We are also considering and contemplating a few special event concerts with an expanded acoustic ensemble lineup. This is a whole different ballgame but may be in the cards and we have a few loyal partners in Europe on board to help manifest if/when the time is correct.

We're proud of the huge accomplishments and results of this intensively ambitious, challenging and difficult album. I think that all we have done with our music to date has led up to this piece of work, its a great evocation of the spirit and essence of what SUNN O))) is/was/shall be over the years. Wszystko pasuje. Układanka robi się coraz wyraźniesza. Drugi utwór na Domkirke, wyborne, różnorodne partie O'Malleya i to co dostaliśmy na nowy albumie.

Swoją drogą te rogi, dęciaki...mam tu skojarzenia ze świetnym, pierwszym albumem japońskiego Taj Mahal Travellers.

Chciałbym posłuchać tej płyty na naprawdę dobrym sprzęcie. W ogóle warto ją przesłuchać śledząc rozpiskę kto na czym i w którym kawałku gra i wygrzebać te szczegóły z mas dźwiękowych. Przepiękna, ekstremalnie bogata płyta. Pięknie zrobiona, doprawdy.

No, jak było do przewidzenia nowy Sunn O))) jest makabrycznie piękny. Ciekawe jak długo panowie są w stanie ciągnąć ten projekt bez żenady, bo konwencję obrali sobie dość ascetyczną, choć miejsca na eksperymenty jest w niej multum.
