Captain's Log, Stardate 12.07.2025:
Yesterday the crew and I recorded a pre-production demo for album #4. We recorded a total of 13 songs, with an interlude and another song yet to be completed. So, if all continues as it has, there will be 15 songs, give or take, on the next album.
It's a combination of our most violent and maniacal material, along with our always evolving progressive and out-there material. Also, throw in the usual deathly and brutal approach we've always had, and more than a handful of alternative rock/shoegaze, and you've got the general sense of what will be overtaking your earholes. Some new genres and styles were also attempted with this one, you can be the judge of its success (or not).
It was good to get these songs recorded and hear it all coming out of studio speakers instead of a shitty phone recording from rehearsal. Time to work on second and third guitar tracks as well as possible leads/solos. This also helps with figuring out the track order, which is usually a painstaking decision that not everyone agrees on. Hope we can get that mapped out.
Earlier this week, we also decided on an official title for the album, and it wasn't the one that had been in my head for the last couple of years. It was weird but felt natural though when the other band members pointed it out. (Yes, it is the title of one of our songs, as has been our habit in the past). Should make for interesting cover art.
About the art: That's the one piece that's still missing. No clear images in my head yet, and no artist yet decided on. So, yeah, we gotta get going on that.
Official studio time booked for January/February, and that will be upon us before we know it. Still a bunch of more work to do before that though, so it's full-steam ahead until then. More news to come.

Album update: Final mix/masters are in my possession. Joe Cincotta finished up the CD/digital/cassette version last week, and it all sounds pretty damn good if we do say so ourselves.

I also received an unmastered, high-quality version of the album, which has been sent to James Plotkin for a dedicated vinyl master. If you recall, we used James's services on the vinyl master for Time Traveler's..., and the results were so good (it literally sounds like a distinct and separate album apart from the CD/digital version), that it would be silly not to use his keen ear and attention to detail again.

I've sent all of the artwork to Alex Eckman-Lawn for support with the layout and possibly some supplemental artwork. I had wanted to do the layout in-house by myself, but my summer has been ruined by the necessity to take a course over the summer in my graduate school program, and I am stretched thin and unable to do it in a timely, sane manner.

We hope to have these last few strands completed in a timely fashion, but of course, you cannot rush things, so it is going to take as long as it takes. Still, we hope it isn't too long until we can hand everything over to Willowtip.
