V/A - Recollection This is already the third installment of the Relapse "Recollection" DVD series. There are videos to be found of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Nile, Cephalic Carnage, Pig Destroyer, Mastodon, Suffocation, Alchemist, Zeke, Nasum, Today Is the Day, Exhumed, Trial Of the Bow, Origin, Amorphis, Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Skinless. Generally speaking this installment doesn't differ all that much from the previous one, as it continues with the standard set by the second DVD in this series. However, there are few interesting videos in here that you should be aware of. Pig Destroyer presents a promo video for the track 'Gravedancer' - which isn't exactly referential for their music, but it conveys a few cool visuals and a part of the "Terrifyer" album narrative. 'Iron Tusk' by Mastodon reminds a lot of their very first video ('March Of the Fire Ants'), while the video for 'Blood & Thunder' would have been so much more interesting, visually. Suffocation's clip for 'Surgery Of Impalement' is a true exercise in great old school power and solid songwriting. Zeke combine live shots with excerpts from an '70s biker movie, could be "Easy Rider" but I haven't been able to confirm. Exhumed take no prisoners and deliver a bone-crushing blood soaked video with 'The Matter Of Splatter'. Trial Of the Bow is the ambient outfit formed by members of legendary funeral doom metal band diSEMBOWELMENT. Frankly, they are misplaced in between Exhumed and Origin. Concluding, Agoraphobic Nosebleed deliver a neck-breaking short video for 'Mosquito Holding Human Cattle Prod' and Skinless deliver a live rendition of 'The Optimist', which is lifted from their "Skinflick" DVD. Overall, another good entry here - but I miss the innovation due to the return of a lot previously featured bands.
