Crawling out of the same noisy, arty New York underground that sired Sonic Youth and Lydia Lunch, Swans created a dark, abrasive, murky, slowed-down noise rock that served as a starting point for their ruminations about alienation, depression, depravity, and the disturbing side of human nature. The band was one of the few groups to emerge from the early 1980s New York No Wave scene and stay intact into the next decade

Swans had always been a monstrously good live band. Often fueled by vodka and amphetamines, Swans' frontman Michael Gira never gave the impression that a Swans live show was a mere perfunctory gig in support of an album. His theatrical persona was to be massive cathartic experience, in which his expressions of abjection were to infect the rest of the audience through his commanding baritone bark and the musical hammer that made up the rest of Swans. In essence, to bear witness to Swans performing live was to have ones soul drained.

These shows the band will be focusing on heavy Swans material, including songs from the following releases : Cop (84), Young God (84), Filth (83) and Children of God (87). Best described as "a deeply repulsive form of audio pornography with aggressively barked vocals from Michael Gira directing a muscular thud of clinically precise assaults, neither punk nor metal, but an abject creature of its own making."

Obsłuchuję tego nowego albumu i bardziej brzmi on jak album Angels of Light. Nawet Gira śpiewa jak emeryt (ale też fajne).

Dobrze powiedziane, ja twierdzilem cos podobnego mianowicie, ze poprzednie Angels Of Light brzmialo prawie jak Swans, co w sumie na jedno wychodzi.
