Krypt
Wywiad przeprowadził Paweł Boroń
Krypt was proudly born, when Tsjuder died. Now, Nag and Desecrator perforate our ears with their new album - "Preludes To Death". Check this CD, read the interview, meet the new face of Tsjuder leaders.
"Preludes To Death" - congratulations, it's a nailing album. How long have you worked on it and what was it like?
Thanks. We have been working on it for about 1,5 years. From the start of the band and until we started the recording. It’s been a great journey, and I’ve been really inspired while working together with Desecrator.
Does the effect of this work satisfy you?
Yes, it’s very satisfying. I’ve lost the inspiration and feeling I used to have with Tsjuder in the 90s. This feeling and inspiration has really come back to me again with Krypt, and by working with Desecrator again.
Why did you decide to end Tsjuder?
The inspiration and feeling we used to have was lost. It’s many reasons why, but we have played together for a really long time, and we decided it was better to put Tsjuder on hold for now, and get new inspiration from other bands / people.
What are the most important differences between Tsjuder and Krypt?
It’s another band. We are not trying to continue where Tsjuder left or anything. For me it’s a journey back to the beginning of the 90s, very much the same as it was when we started Tsjuder. Musically speaking it has many resemblances, but yet very different. It’s impossible not to have some riffs which will remind you of Tsjuder, but on the other hand we also have riffs that never would have been used in Tsjuder.
True Norwegian Black Metal - what does it mean today?
The same as it’s always meant. It’s True Norwegian Black Metal, no bullshit.
Hehehe, your vision of black metal is very traditional - how about some modern experiments concerning your future music?
No, I play the music I like. If that leads me into trying new stuff, well so be it. But I get inspiration from the bands I like, and have listened to for many years. I’m not trying to do anything revolutionary, and I will never try to make music in any special direction. It just comes to me.
Which contemporary black metal hordes are the most interesting in your opinion?
Urgehal, Vulture Lord, Beastcraft, Carpathian Forest, Gehenna, Watain, Mord, Koldbrann, Enthroned, Endezzma, +++
Whose idea was the name of your band and the title of your first album?
Krypt came from an idea Desecrator had. It was initially different, but it ended up as Krypt. We decided “Preludes to Death" together.
Apart from Norway :) - aby other land/lands with good black metal scene worth attention in your opinion?
I think many countries have good scenes. Other countries are Sweden, Finland, Germany, Poland, Brazil, Peru, Columbia, Australia, +++
Are you familiar with Polish black metal scene? What do you think about our devilish stunts?
For the last 7-10 years I haven’t been very interested in new Black Metal, meaning I lost the interest when it was possible to download music from the internet, and tape trading which I was used to was lost. So I have to admit I’m not too up to date on what’s going on in Poland, even though I know it’s a great scene there.
How did your co-operation with Agonia Records began? Are you satisfied with it?
I have known Filip for about 8 years, and I sent him a rehearsal recording of “I am God", and that was enough for him. So we signed for the EP and two albums. I think Agonia has done a great job for us, and I’m very satisfied! They are working hard yet still not stressing us.
What about promoting the album outside Norway? Are you going to come to Poland?
I have never been to Poland, so I would really like to go there! There is only one concert planned for now, Under the Black Sun in Germany. So if / when we come to Poland I don’t know.
Do you thinking about next full lenght?
Yes, but we have not started working on it. We need a little break from writing music after we recorded “Preludes to Death", and until this autumn we’ll concentrate on rehearsing for UTBS. Also Desecrator play in Endezzma and Beastcraft, while I play also in Beastcraft. But after this summer, we’ll start on the next album.
Do You want to add smth?
Thanks for supporting raw and brutal Black Metal by doing this interview with Krypt. Also I appriciate the support from all you Polish maniacs!
Thanks for your time - wish you strenght, wisdom and passion.
Thanks.
