![]() David Cachia: "It's quite obvious, it clearly means that the vocalist that was trying out with the band wasn't making anything we were looking for, in other words he was slow and out of tempo, so it was something we didn’t expect and out he goes, plain and simple. Luckily we just came through our expectations just last week as we have recruited a new sick motherfucker in the band, we are very happy with his vocal duties and his brutality is beyond any expectations." I saw you on this year's FTC. One of the best shows you did, candidly! How do you recollect the festival as well as the US tour you endeavored to do afterwards? "To correct you, the US tour was done before the FTC and I think it's far the best festival BEHEADED ever played in, we've been quite supported from all those sick fucks in front of the stage, it was unbelievable, too way fuckin' awesome and besides that we shared the stage with the best death metal bands around. The US tour was great as well, we met and played with so many bands but still we prefer Europe touring wise." Why you dislike Canadian police that much? What happened over there? "The Canadian border guards sucks big fat elephant dicks, what happened there was just totally fucked up, I am not going to get all into it but my opinion is that certain people have to think better before they act in a certain dumb way, it's definitely that next time we will be working with another serious promoter from Canada that will get us there without being like some fuckin’ refugees trying to get into a country without permission, we apologize to all those who showed up at the Toronto, Montreal and Quebec shows, we will be back for sure." I think "Recounts of Disembodiment" is another firm step you take into intensity and superb musicianship. How do you perceive the evolution of Beheaded, musically? "Thanks for your comments, yes.. I think we kind of improved musically during the making the "Recounts of Disembodiment" album. The previous work was quite technical as well but the latest one was the work of a whole year practice. We're happy regarding the turn out of the whole album." To tell the truth, I haven't heard your earliest materials, but reportedly, they are more atmospheric (whatever it means). Pretty odd, so to speak. Especially as it comes to your recent outputs. "When we recorded the "Souldead" demo tape in 1995 and the "Perpetual Mockery" CD which happens to be our first full length CD we were more into bands like At The Gates or Brutality where both bands have got that kind of melodic edge to the music and we were influenced by them kind of but that is history, time changes, so does Beheaded... blast on motherfucker!" Why did you actually leave X-Treme Records? How do you feel about Mighty? ![]() Is it tough to be a brutal death metal band in Malta? I mean, what the Maltese like listening to most of all? "Like hell yes it is a bit hard being in a death metal band in here, but if you work hard for it and if you believe in the shit you do, then you make it more easier, I look at ourselves a big ass achievement to the scene itself, I never knew we could have made all this so far. As far as the Maltese metal people, you know the trend is everywhere... most of the people here are in the usual Black Metal and Gothic gayness which I don’t like at all, still we have people who dig Brutal Death Metal, still..." Is there anything like brutal death scene in your native country? Do you have any fellow-bands? "Yeah, we have some killer bands over here and that's make it having a scene. Few of them plays brutal death metal and those few have just started out, it's cool to see all these death metal bands coming out." Presumably it's still too early to ask you of it, but have you started making new material yet? "Well, we do have 2 new songs already and the reason we do have only two is that we had the vocalist problem and it kinda slowed us a bit but I am more then sure that with the new guy things will go much more faster, the new material is expected to be much more faster and brutal then the stuff from "Recounts of Disembodiment"." As I hold your album I suppose you, as a band, want to be involved with and take care of almost every detail as far as the whole thing called Beheaded is concerned. Your lyrics are definitely not infantile, cover is perfect, music is proficient and well produced. So, you must be very busy guys, don’t you? "Yes we are a busy band, we work hard for where we are today, we're very into the underground and we will always stick to it, whether are the circumstances - Hail Death fucking Metal!." ![]() "Each of every release (except "Souldead", the demo) were recorded at the best studio in Malta which is Temple studios, where even big bands like Rammestein (gay band for my tastes but ohh well) recorded there, as you can listen each of our CD has got different sound so we're not worrying about being trapped with the same sound." Yeah, it's damn trite question, anyway, could you say a few words on the idea behind lyrical part of "Recounts..."? The lyrics seem to be pretty uncommon. "Ohh well, I think I am afraid I can't answer that question since Omar and Dave writes most of the lyrics but hell yes I do know that the lyrics are uncommon." I know your albums are available in the US via Forever Underground. What about Japan or Australia? I presume maniacs out there would really take an interest in Beheaded. "I don’t think there's a license through those countries you mentioned, all I know is that lot of people from those countries bought the CD from various distros through the underground." Before we put the talk to an end. Do you know anything about Poland? "I've never been that good in history, especially the Polish one, all I know about Poland is cute blonde girls, killer Death Metal bands and a huge underground scene, we will play there sooner or later. Thanks as hell for your time, support the underground brutality!" Bart Donarski |
