A death metal band made up by members of South Dakota metalcore, sludge - and thrash metal bands, and they wear masks? Is there any logical reason why I shouldn’t think Tennessee Murder Club is going to fucken blow? I’m also pretty fucken sure that the much better Circle Of Dead Children released a record called “Human Harvest” about ten fucken years ago. I have no idea why the label insists on calling this death metal cos it has little to do with the genre, outside of the crunchy Stockholm guitars. Nailjar Records after all brought the world the joys that are Chestburster and Cannibal Accident. For a label to house the best underground grindcore, but to also have this bunch of fucken hipsters is fucken puzzling. The logo screams fucken Black Label Society, metalcore and other populist jock metal. No. This is sludge metal with angry deathcore vocals and a horror concept that is probably more interesting than the band that is using it. There’s a bunch of guest stars on this record too. Jack Owen (Deicide, Cannibal Corpse), Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel, Warfather), Mike Flores (Origin), Shaune Kelley (Ripping Corpse, ex-Hate Eternal, Flesh Consumed) all appear on this record in some capacity, but not even their presence can redeem this record. That atmospheric interlude ‘Death Warmed Over’ was pretty great, but that’s about it. It is always good to hear Steve Tucker growl, but outside of that ‘Ol Dead Eyes’ pretty much wastes Mike Flores whose bass guitar lines should be up, front and center with this song. No such fucken luck. The band pretty much wastes whoever they have guesting. Sure, the solo in ‘Wormstench’ is fucken great, but it is too little too late. The only Little I like is fucken Brook Little anyway. The fuck is this anyway? Atmospheric horror sludge with light death metal stylings? Yeah, that’s the best I can make of this pretentious overcooked tripe. Seriously, the idea of this band is fucken genius, and it probably does that whole horror thing better than Necrophagia – but the execution is fucken lacking, dudes. Holy shit, there are demo bands that write death metal than these supposedly experienced guys. Go the fuck back to your crappy populist metal bands from whence you came, you fucken hipsters. Leave death metal to those who have a real passion for it. By Odin, this is fucken dreadful.
