Holy fucken shit. This is more like it. I mostly remember Wan cos two members used to play in the very short-lived doom metal act Atra Filia. You know, next to the ridiculously cute Caroline Marjoniemi. Whatever became of Caroline? Does anybody fucken know? Elias "Tsjud" Axelsson (vocals) and Jan "Isengrim" Röök (bass guitar) are still the fucken main duo behind Wan, and their fucken alcohol-fueled black/thrash metal never sounded dirtier, rawer and fucken pissed off. I would be fucken pissed off too if I lived in Sweden. Cos alcohol is fucken taxed to all hell over there. Odin knows it’s really fucken rare to hear a good band among the endless crap we reviewers are continually swamped with. 13 new songs in three years, PowerMorbid 5000 could learn something from these fucken Swedes. Just saying. So yeah, “Enjoy the Filth” lives up to its fucken title. This is dirty, drunken black/thrash metal inspired in copious fucken amounts by early Bathory, Hellhammer, “Deathcrush” Mayhem, Venom, “Morbid Visions” Sepultura and probably a good deal of Teutonic thrash. It’s not what you call subtle, or very fucken diverse – but it is so fucken effective. Don’t ask what’s the fucken difference between these 13 tracks, cos I couldn’t fucken tell you. Some of them are sung in Swedish, most of them in English. Not that that matters. Who the fuck pays attention to lyrics in underground metal? I’m sure this band sings incoherently about the usual fucken inane mumbo-jumbo about Satan, inverted crosses, nuclear wargoats and darkness. If you come into this expecting life-affirming, or just plain intelligent, lyrics - you are dead fucken wrong, pea-brain. Where was I? So yeah, anybody knows what happened to Caroline from Atra Filia? Maybe I should fucken direct this question to Tsjud, and send him a fucken six-pack of beer while I’m at it. You know, to keep him fucken motivated. I might actually fucken do that. Fuck, this shit is amazing. There is not a single female boob, big or small, to be found on this record, and sometimes that is okay. I just wished I remembered why this band hasn’t catched on with the stupid masses yet. Oh, I fucken know now. Cos they play actual underground metal. Underproduced, dirty and extremely fucken obnoxious, I mean, drunk. No, not that, brutal. Yeah, that works. This is the sort of filth I can enjoy, you know, next to ridiculous amounts of cheap beer, and internet porn. Yeah, that too. Fuck you stupid kids and hipster douchebags if you don’t like it. It’s your fucken loss.
