I seem to remember not too long ago that this band really sounded like “Scream Bloody Gore” Death and “Several Survival” Autopsy. Fuck knows what led to this change in direction, but I’m left with the one obvious fucken question: why the fuck do you sound so much like a Chicago death metal band when you are actually from New York? Not that you hear me fucken complaining, or something. Considering this is a Sevared Records release (yeah, fuck you, it’s on the Butchered imprint) I’m surprised this is as solid as it is. Well, no. I’m not surprised cos Disfigured Dead always been solid – but why the flying fuck is this on Sevared? Was there no other label interested in these guys? Why? Why isn’t this band on FDA Rekotz, Ibex Moon or Dark Descent? Odin knows good death metal is fucken hard to come by. So the fact that “Relentless” is released on the sub-print of a label specializing in the most uninteresting, mongloid, bottom feeding acts of death - and slam-death metal says something… and most of it isn’t very good. I mean, for fucks’s sake, this sounds like Gorgasm more than anything. You know, back when Gorgasm was actually good. “Stabwound Intercourse” and so on. I don’t care what you faggots think this is actual, honest-to-Odin death metal. Hey, fuckos, your songs could use some leads/solos here and there, cos they are fucken hard to tell apart at times. Oh wait. ‘Deranged Consecration’ and ‘Death Disguised, Dream Demise’ actually have one. Good going, guys. I can hear the fucken bass guitar popping away too. Holy fucken shit. We’re getting there, finally. Death metal where you can hear the bass guitar. Holy shit. So yeah, stupid album title aside this is pretty fucken solid death metal. I liked them better when they played more like old Death and Autopsy, but I suppose they need to get with the times if they want to make some scraps and foodstamps while on tour. Who the fuck knows, maybe Disfigured Dead will truly show what they are worth on their third album? Not that the US death metal scene is very interesting, or worth paying attention to. I’d rather hear Lelu Love talk incoherently than to sit through another underground promo from some clueless band of talentless hacks. No. Disfigured Dead is actually good. Yeah, I’m as surprised as you are, asshat. Lay down that bong and buy this record.
