Yeah, death metal used to be pretty amazing at one point. That time was the 90s, and those golden days are never coming back. Which makes me fucken grateful for a band like Diabolical Imperium. Who? Fuck, I know, dude. I never heard of them krauts before either, that’s how fucken underground they are. Are there still German death metal bands that actually, you know, matter? Defeated Sanity. Yeah, fucken br00dle and all that, but when will they finally start to write actual songs? Necrophagist. Stop masturbating to that fucken overrated "Epitaph" album for a minute, and consider the possibility of Necrophagist releasing a new album is as slim as me and... Oh wait, we did one that already. Let’s just fucken agree that Muhammad releasing a new album is bloody fucken unlikely. Obscura. They were better with Thesseling on fretless bass. Who the fuck is left then? Anasarca. They haven’t released anything in a long time, fucko. Golem. They haven’t released anything for an even longer time, shit-for-brains. Pavor. Them releasing something is as likely as me ending up in a fucken three-way with Sammy Murphy and Caitlin Wynters. Yeah, and dogs should stop licking themselves. Not going to fucken happen. Atrocity? Lay down that fucken bong, dude. Your fucken brain is fried. We lost Alex Krull to the dark side (also known as Liv’s breasts) somewhere in the 90s. Just to say that, fucken hell, it is truly invigorating to hear a band like Diabolical Imperium. They sound Swedish (fucken Stockholm/Sunlight all over it) yet they play American styled death metal, the pure kind. Think Sadistic Intent, early Cenotaph and mix that with the crunch of early Sinister. In these crazy times of fucken gravity blasts, sub-subwoofer grunts and breakdowns it’s good hearing a band like this. You know, a band that actually sounds dark, ominous, foreboding with hateful riffing and tons upon tons of fucken oppressive and suffocating atmosphere. Who knew? I mean, fuck me, this stuff is well written, well played and none of it is fucken goofy or silly. Oh sure, the scary evil satanic lyrics are exactly as stupid and ridiculous as you’d expect, but barring that Diabolical Imperium is a death metal band like they don’t make them often anymore. "The Sacred Lie" is death metal, without any fucken additives or prefixes. Check it out, and for once pay attention to a band that matters. Fuck you stupid kids and hipster douchebags.
