So, here’s what I don’t fucken get. If Panzerfaust is calling themselves “black metal fundamentalists”, but also proudly boast that they “have no ideology, but pursue the idea of ideas themselves” isn’t that being the least bit intellectually dishonest? How exactly can one be a fundamentalist when not following the ideology of said mindset? That’s contradictory to say the least. If you are not following any ideology, why then the stupid black metal nom de guerres and the silly corpse paint? If you are so hellbent on being so fucken individualistic at least have the balls to actually be, you know, individualistic. Anyway, ideological inconsistencies aside this is pretty good midpaced black metal with prominent bass guitar passages that is produced a lot better than it probably deserves. It will no doubt piss off a few purists along the way cos this is produced as a 90s/early 2000s death metal band, but frankly I don’t care. In fact, this reminds me somewhat of Eclipse Eternal minus the fucken keyboards and synthesizers. By Odin, this is actually pretty good if Panzerfaust would stop fucking around and get down to business. When and if the band ever makes its mind up on what it want to be, whatever comes first. It is effective when going in those meandering gloomy doom sections, full of monk chants and eery vocals. As a death metal band Panzerfaust is pretty tolerable too, not special or anything but decent. I’m having serious difficulties labeling this as black metal, cos outside of some of the riffing and the croaking demonic frog vocals, there’s really not much that classifies as such. Hey, more power to them if they insist of being called black metal and being valiant underground metal warriors. I’m not going to lose any fucken sleep over it. “Jehovah-Jireh” is that. A whole lot of something, but not anything strong in particular. Did that make sense? Cos that’s the best you are going to fucken get.
