Over the last years the export of Brazilian death metal has come to halt. Krisiun remains strong, Ophiolatry split, as did Rebaelliun and Nephasth many years earlier. Abhorrence hasn’t released a record in many years and Mental Horror is treading water. Sure, there are new bands. Lacerated and Carbonized wished they were Aborted, or a deathcore band (I’m not sure which at this point). Other than that no young bands come to mind. Anyway, this is a one-man project and ‘Disgraceful Human Rot’ (that’s what the title means) is his first effort. It’s instantly notable that this thing is way slower than you’re used to from Brazil. This is chunky with tons of groove. I get a Bloodsoaked and dumbed down Massacre vibe from this EP, but maybe that’s just me. Not that it is especially impressive, or good even. The drumming is very Massacre-like at any rate, but Bill Andrews had swagger and style. No. This is just some long-haired guy in a Suffocation shirt who wrote some songs and recorded them. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just don’t expect me praise you for it. In this day and age you got to do more than just print up a demo to stand out from the crowd. I wish I could say something more constructive about this EP, but it’s just that. This is the most basic of groove death metal that is neatly recorded and competently played. The logo is readable, but is more fitting of a psychedelic – or stoner rock band than a death metal one. Thankfully it wasn’t one of those god-awful mushy logos created by Jon Zig or Steve Crow. Thank Odin for that. Still, Evisceration Blast (is that a blast that eviscerates a person?) is just that. One guy that wrote three songs and recorded them. I’m done with writing about this stupid EP, as it really isn’t all that special and not particularly good. I’m not drunk enough to enjoy this kind of shit. Next time you sent me something from Brazil, I pray it will be naughty pictures of Roberta Murgo and not another awful promo like this. Now go away...
