This one-man black metal act from Russia capitalizes heavily on the sounds of Marduk ("Opus Nocturne", "Heaven Shall Burn...") and Dark Funeral ("Vobiscum Satanas") with a military theme to boot. While speed is the obvious focus the dynamics are relatively clever for a first recording. AK-11 will slow down occasionally or integrate a thrashier section to add much needed diversity to this otherwise blistering EP. On the whole AK-11 is quite subpar, and doesn’t leave much of an impact. Everything here has been done before, and more times than not, it has been done better and more convincing. In all, this is fairly typical underground black metal, even the military theme isn’t exactly a novelty. The vocals are the typical blood-curdling shrieks and while the drum machine is obvious it’s never really a hinderance. The drum patterns are well-thought out and never go overboard. The bass guitar features prominently in the mix adding a lot of bottom end heaviness to an otherwise rather thin production. The military theme isn’t really explored beyond a couple of song titles and the cover artwork. All things considered, "Legendary, Demonic & Invicible" is an EP overflowing with ideas, but the half-baked execution and delivery make it have far less impact than what the package reasonably implies. A missed chance on many levels.
