Wydane przez BlwbckRok wydania Kraj FranceNapisał Wouter6Komentarze (0)Misery - MiséricordesMisery is another funeral black metal combo from France, inspired by illustrious one-man entities such as Xasthur, Nortt and Striborg. Headed up by one Thomas Bel the project has released a slew of releases, with ‘Miseria Aeternia’ being previously reviewed on these pages. The record starts off with the haunting instrumental piece ‘Eglise de Misère’ (‘Church Of Misery’), which gives way to the dirge that is ‘Hantée par les Plaies’ (‘Haunted By the Wounds’). Much of the grim atmosphere is created by the use of keyboards, minimal riffing and ambient effects. The drumming is simple, but effective. The strained demonic wailings remind of early Mortiis. ‘Sous l’égide de Martyrs’ (‘Under the Aegis Of Martyrs’) opens with a frail sounding acoustic section. The distant and distorted wailings serve to impose an atmosphere of claustrophobia and desolation. The closing track is introduced by light washes of ambient keyboards, tolling funeral bells and haunting choirs. The astonishing graven artwork by Romain Barbot is a definite step up from the preceding releases. In order to add to the cult nature of this act, this release is strictly limited to 44 tape copies.
