Weapons to Hunt

Supposedly, Weapons to Hunt is an extension of sometime-Sinister studio project Infinited Hate. Which is strange and misleading to say the least. Weapons to Hunt is far more melodic, thrashing and evil sounding plus there are no obvious personnel overlaps. Besides Aad Kloosterwaard (Sinister, Supreme Pain, Absurd Universe) and Ron van de Polder (ex-Sinister) nobody previously associated with that project is present here. Instead much of the current Sinister line-up fills the slots, which makes this just another project fronted by Kloosterwaard. With Kloosterwaard fronting that many projects, one has to wonder if he is not spreading himself a bit thin, creatively. In a lot of ways (riffing, drumming) this is quite similar to Dutch death/thrash pioneers Thanatos, with even Kloosterwaard’s bark recalling Stephan Gébedi. Whereas Infinited Hate (and its alma mater Sinister) dealt with the occult and the Satanic, Weapons to Hunt is more about violence and rage, in the lyrical themes. Why it is then sold as an Infinited Hate offshoot is anybody’s guess. Those expecting to hear something down the line of "Revel In Bloodshed" or "Heaven Termination" are best to skip this particular album, as it sounds nothing like those records, even with the widest margin of comparison. There’s no question about the competence, sincerity or highly professional execution of this album - but more of why it was deemed necessary to release this on a worldwide scale. Good, but great?
