    Eugenics ()

Since the times of "Intrauterine Cannibalism" and "Motivated By Hunger" the band has become more technical, more spastic and even more extreme. "Eugenics" is a semi-conceptual, post-apocalyptic tale of mankind’s demise by alien invasion and their own undoing. Returning to the fold on bass guitar is one-time drummer Roger J. Beaujard (Mortician) along with mainstays Ron Kachnic (guitars) and vocalist/lyricist Danny Nelson. "Eugenics" continues the evolution of the band and this record is heavy on pinch harmonics as the preceding album. Like their earlier recordings Malignancy manage to keep their songs coherent and recognizable, despite their incredible spastic and technical nature. Mike Heller is a beast behind the drumkit laying down some utterly jawdropping fills, rolls and cymbal work - all without devolving into directionless blasting. Beaujard fits in seamlessly with past members Desmond Tolhurst and Lance Snyder delivering bass lines that complement Kachnic’s guitar work in an excellent way. Nelson never sounded more vicious and his lyrics greatly complement Malignancy’s impressive attack. In a genre that is growing more stale and stagnant with each passing year, it is heartening to have bands like Malignancy. They don’t release new material all that often, but when they do they make it worth everybody’s while. Be sure to pick this one up, folks.
