    Planisphaerium ()

Forming in Madrid, Spain in 1998 they combine unmerciful death metal with lyrical themes of space, physics and evolution in a whirlwind package. As far as brutality and abstract extremity is concerned few can match this Spanish combo. Wormed combine the structural NY brutality of Suffocation with the blasting of "Chaotic Matrix" era Internal Suffering and the chaotic feel of "The Mystical Gate Of Reincarnation" era Kataklysm. It is uncanny how much this resembles earliest Kataklysm in feel and delivery. The only thing lacking is guitar leads/solos to individualize the tracks a tad more. The vocals of J.L. "Phlegeton" Rey are acquired taste and not very varied, but as far as Chris Barnes (circa "Butchered at Birth") worship goes, it bodes well enough. The murky but bass-heavy production is reminiscent of early Internal Suffering and Pyrexia’s "Sermon Of Mockery" (although not nearly as dry and bare bones sounding). "Planisphaerium" was reissued by Macabre Mementos Records in 2005 (they released this record originally in 2003) with the "Floating Cadaver in the Monochrome" demo/EP and the "Voxel Mitosis" demo as bonus tracks – this latest reissue is identical to that one. A good thing Willowtip is bringing this underrated act back into the limelight. Hopefully they’ll grace us with another release sooner rather than later.
