After a 7 year hiatus Spanish death metal unit Wormed finally returned with a two track EP called "Quasineutrality". In comparison to "Planisphaerium" the production values were drastically improved, further enhancing the already considerably cosmic and unearthly atmosphere. The two new tracks build further on the template of the preceding release and expand upon the ideas present therein. It becomes immediately clear that these two cuts are structured far better and that the concepts hinted upon with the earlier release are now better fleshed out. Also of note is the increase of the psychedelic, unearthly atmosphere. With improved songwriting comes better production values and that is this EP’s biggest strength. The production job of "Planisphaerium" wasn’t exactly shoddy, but it was off putting for many listeners because it was rough around the edges. "Quasineutrality" rectifies this mishap by a far smoother and natural sounding production that gives each instrument their place without robbing them of their heaviness. Originally released by Pathologically Explicit Recordings in 2010. This new reissue comes with two bonus tracks (‘Voxel Mitosis’, ‘Tunnel Of Ions’). Another worthwhile reissue by Willowtip and Hammerheart. If now only Wormed would return to active duty...
