    Devil’s Ferox (ep)

Opening track ‘Monuments Desecration’ (the roll-out single of this EP) sets the tone in that is more controlled sounding than the band’s past offerings, albeit equally as chaotic. The tempo is lot lower compared to the preceding EP and their debut of couple of years ago. Bleeding Fist remain as chaotic, violent and filthy as ever, gong for a visceral but crude production that emphasizes their heaviness but sacrifices some clarity and range in the process. ‘Pillars Of Black Enlightenment’ is the fastest and most dense track of this EP. The spewed vocals of Etienne “Hellscream” Chelleri are well enunciated compared to a lot of the band’s peers but remain demented as ever. The bass guitar remains audible and the drums sound like beatings of war. The riffing has become far more straight-up black metal and the rhythm sections serve as a stark reminder of this band’s thrash past. As always the atmosphere of darkness and gloom is prevalent in their material. By slowing down the pace Bleeding Fist has become increasingly more claustrophobic sounding and harrowing compared to past recordings. The crunchy production reminds in equal measure of Death’s seminal debut “Scream Bloody Gore” as it does of Immortal’s “Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism”. Overall is “Devil’s Ferox” a solid addition to the catalogue, but anyone who wasn’t impressed by their earlier albums, won’t be by this either.
