Grindbashers are one of Holland’s more promising traditional grindcore acts, which has released three records to date. Contributing leftovers from the sessions from “Songs Of Suicide, Words Of Death”, “Mine Own Redeemer” (the band’s split with Belgian genre institution Agathocles) and “End Of The Bloodline”. Opening the split is Indonesian band Tersanjung13 who explosively dish out 8 tracks in the vein of Nasum, Repulsion and Exit Wounds. Grindbashers contribute 16 tracks of aural decimation much in the vein of Agathocles, Brutal Truth, Cripple Bastards, (early) Napalm Death, Patareni and the likes. As expected the songs last anymore from a few seconds to a few minutes each and they are delivered at a breakneck pace. As with most grind Grindbashers don’t care for any additional bells or whistles, going straight for the jugular. Their part of this split is concise and wastes no time. There’s far more diversity in Grindbashers contribution to this split, whereas Tersanjung13 are far more straightforward and stripped down, even for grindcore standards. Tersanjung13 offer the most brutal material on this split, although Grindbashers don’t exactly slouch either. It is notable that the latter’s material is more controlled sounding. The production on Grindbashers’ part of the split is considerably heavier, recalling the classic Stockholm sound of old. This is not surprising since it was recorded at the home studio of Massive Assault member Fredde Kaddeth. The title of this split album is an obvious pun to UK punkers The Exploited’s “Beat the Bastards” album. Split albums aren’t exactly a new phenomenom in death metal and grindcore, yet this split is truly worthy of the attention. Get ready to get bashed and grinded!
