Proud to Build the Insidious Catastrophe ()

Featuring Goryptic bassist Trash on vocals this band is far more traditional and chunky compared to his other band. The vocals are decidedly in the vein of pre-“The Archaic Abattoir” era Aborted and the riffing is of the typical New York/Chicago death metal variety, taking inspiration from (early) Dying Fetus, Fleshgrind, Gorgasm, (early) Malignancy and the likes. Unlike so many of their peers Human Parasite understand that dynamics and recognizable hooks improve listenability and “Proud to Build…” is easily accessible because of that. Thankfully are the slam sections, breakdowns and pit riffs kept to an absolute minimum, instead Human Parasite present a no-frills if not workmanlike take on the pure death metal genre. The band is not afraid to slow down and let the songs breathe and evolve, in that sense they are reminiscent of any of the classic ‘90s era death metal acts. The drumming avoids constant blasting and packs some groove too often missed in bands of this kind. The occasional creepy lead/solo would have helped tremendously further individualizing these cuts, but they aren’t too shabby in their current form. Samples through out the record don’t add a lot, and are best left out in their second full lenght record. Overall, Human Parasite remind a lot of “Sermon Of Mockery” era Pyrexia in the sense that what they do is merely a copy of something else, but it is done in such a convincing and accomplished manner that their faults are excuseable.
