Suicide Of Demons is a Swedish styled death/thrash outfit from the French-speaking region of Belgium. “A New Beginning” offers up a market-savvy helping of modern Gothenburg death/thrash metal reminiscent of Carnal Forge, The Haunted, Soilwork and the likes. The delivery is mostly of the well-known Swedish fashion with superficialities drawn from the more melodic and technical American class of the metalcore subgenre. The shouted and emotive clean vocals reek of impotent modern-day metalcore (whatever happened to 1990’s metalcore? The defiantly brutal and murderous one?) While the technical noodling is serviceable is also serves to hide the mundane songstructures. Most notable in the membership is drummer Johan Nunez (Firewind, Nightrage) and while the guitarists are obviously highly skilled their tendency to noodle endlessly derail the songs and take away any intensity built up prior. The solo’ing is highly technical and frantic yet some reservation should be exercised as leads/solos should never force a cut dead in its tracks. Overall this is a calculated mix of Gothenburg melodic death, straightforward Swedish death/thrash and a metalcore-ish but bass-heavy production and vocal stylings. As such Suicide Of Demons will probably appeal to a lot of ignorant youngsters, hipster douchebags and scene kids while more experienced and traditional genre fans are advised to keep as far away from this band as possible.
