After releasing an album by Hungarian act Drünken Bastards Hell's Headbangers continues to capitalize on the retro-thrash/crossover movement, which despite having long since peaked in popularity, and have signed this act. Children Of Technology hail from Italy and like their Hungarian counterparts they play a retro-thrash/crossover that is infectious – but as a whole doesn't add much to a genre dominated by bigger and, frankly, better bands that did this thing years ago, long before it became the popular and cool thing to do. It's always surprising to see record labels embark on a signing spree once a certain genre reaches stratospheric heights of popularity. The results of those signings are bands being released that otherwise would have dabbled in obscurity for considerable time. Children Of Technology are a textbook example of this very thing. "It's Time To Face the Doomsday" is yet another throwback record to the earlier and more carefree times of thrash metal. If anything it proves that the sheer amount of bands getting offered a record deal just because they play a genre that is en vogue at that specific time, doesn't immediately mean they are quality or worth seeking out. Hopelessly redundant from the onset "It's Time to…" rumbles and stumbles along at a fine pace, throwing the occasional moment of finesse into an otherwise stale and predictable musical package. The geography of this act is unimportant as they want to sound as American as the next one. Being entirely devoid of a singular identity and being nothing more than a glorified tribute band Children Of Technology have a real chance of being forgotten amongst the current crop of original and second-generation thrash metal acts that delivered and continue to deliver the real thing.
