Iperyt are Poland's answer to Australian death/terrorcore combo The Berzerker, Finland's nuclear punk/black metal combo Impaled Nazarene or a more militant and out-of-control sounding version of Sepultura offshoot Nailbomb. Unlike their once masked predecessors Iperyt are far more hardcore oriented, in both vocal delivery and riffing, and not nearly rely as much on shockfactor and listener disorientation alone. The tempo is sufficiently high but not suffocating, allowing the listener to a catch a breath in between blast salvos. The vocals are spitted out in a convincingly brute, mean and venomous fashion. In contrast to The Berzerker and Nailbomb the drumming is quite rudimentary and one-dimensional, which would have otherwise added another of layer of intensity. The record is surprisingly bass-heavy for the genre and it is clear that Iperyt put some thought into these compositions. There isn't a great deal of variation nor is there any signature track to speak of. The production is uneven with the terrorcore parts regularly drowning out its metal counterparts. The guitars regularly end up buried under the noise of the terrorcore, audio Armageddon is one thing, but this surely wasn't the intent. If you've heard The Berzerker's self-titled debut and second record "Dissimulate" Iperyt will be familiar and even tame sounding in comparison. On the whole "No State Of Grace" is well-executed debut, with some fine-tuning in composition and production Iperyt will have an interesting cocktail in their hands.
