    DemoSlaughter ()

Profoundly influential on both the burdgeoning death – and black metal scenes in the Americas and Europe Nunslaughter released six demo recordings in the span of 12 years, dating from 1987 to 1999. A compilation of these historic six demo sessions, including the legendary 1985 demo - and rehearsal recordings of pre-Nunslaughter act Death Sentence are now compiled on this aptly named "DemoSlaughter" retrospective. The earliest incarnation of the band is as primitive as is to be expected given the timeframe and limitations of the genre at the time. Similarities with Death ("Scream Bloody Gore"), Slayer ("Show No Mercy"), Sepultura ("Morbid Visions") and Necrophagia ("Season Of the Dead") are its most prominent features. Forming in mid 1980's Nunslaughter were one of the most chaotic and brutal acts of its kind and this demo compilation stands testament to that fact. It is here that the relation between violent thrash metal and early death metal becomes all the more apparent. A lot of the material sounds like a murkier and darker take on the early sound of German thrash titans Destruction, Kreator and Sodom. The Satanic lyrical concept blurs the lines between the genres even more, laying down the basic template for future generations of black metal bands in Europe, North – and South America. The production ranges from echoing, cavernous rehearsal room recordings that drown out the drums and reduce the guitars to a minimal buzz. Later sessions are slightly cleaned up and bass-heavy but still very basic demo sounding with distorted vocals that emphasize the lack of tracks in the recording facility and the dire sonic limitations of the old demo tapes in range and sound fidility.
