Fractured Insanity

These Belgians sound as a potent mix between "Nihility" era Decapitated, "Aggressive Measures" era Sinister and (later) Hour Of Penance, with the sole exception that their arrangements aren't on the same level of any these inspirations. While having its fair share of blasts, timechanges and structural dynamics "Mass Awakeless" is not nearly as brutal as one would reasonably expect. The execution is tight and the performances are exemplary across the board. On the whole "Mass Awakeless" is decent, if not non-descript, take on the Polish death metal sound. The stand out tracks are 'Infecting the Blind', 'Faceless Redemption' and 'The Rise Of the Nameless Aeon'. There are some minor classical influences, but they are few and nowhere are they as prominent compared to the likes of Fleshgod Apocalypse. The few leads/solos are very worthwhile and hopefully the band will make them an integral part of their future sound. Right now they sound forced and obligatory, without any real conviction. The album was recorded at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland by Wojciech and Slawomir Wieslawski. The production is, typically for this studio, expertly cut to emphasize the strengths of this unit. The artwork is better than on their rather bland Goregiastic Records debut "When Mankind Becomes Diseased", but in itself not very special. Fractured Insanity are one of the better Belgian death metal acts out there right now. Hopefully they'll be able to reach and fully develop their blooming promise and potential.
