Ripping death/thrash metal in the vein of In Aeturnum, Sacramentum harnessing the head-on intensity, finesse and unadulterated power of Vader, circa "Black To the Blind" and "De Profundis". On the flipside there's no real stand out or signature track to speak of. All of these 9 tracks are equally expertly performed yet nowhere is a true wow-moment to be found. My Own Grave combine American straightforward brutality with a European sense of melody and groove. "Necrology" is an anotherwise serviceable and more than decent Swedish tinged death/thrash metal assault. The execution is superb with some impressive technical skill of all involved. The artwork was created by tattoo artist Jon Zig (Deeds Of Flesh, Gorgasm, Pessimist, Suffocation) and is quite different from his usual gore – and horror drenched pieces. The album was recorded and produced at the band's own Studio Domsaga and Studio Blastbeat. Mixing and mastering by one-man industry Dan Swanö at Unisound (Chaossworn, Edge Of Sanity, Hail Of Bullets, Nasum). In conclusion "Necrology" is another solid addition to My Own Grave's catalogue and while far from vital to the genre, it is good to hear something so traditional executed with such energy and enthusiasm. They might not be able to measure themselves with the masters of the genre, but My Own Grave is certainly getting closer. Very good.
