    Sielunmessu ()

Wydane przez Hammer Of Hate RecordsRok wydania Kraj FinlandNapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Vitsaus - SielunmessuVitsaus is the Finnish term for the word 'pest'. Considering how popular the black plague theme is in both black – and death meta it comes as no surprise that naming their band Pest was not an option. So this Finnish duo settled for the next best thing with their current moniker. "Sielunmessu" is an exercise in Scandinavian devilry and darkness that sounds as a combination of old Burzum, Darkthrone and Horna. The Horna comparison isn't surprising taken into consideration that current Horna drummer Vainaja is also involved in this act. Like the more traditional black metal acts that inspired them Vitsaus need not to rely on constant blasting to create an atmosphere of eeries and depravity. Where a lot of their contemporaries fail to leave a lasting impression Vitsaus are something different and more malign altogether. The musicianship is adequate, the execution is rigid and there's no shortage in feels of depression and alienation. The vocals are spewed out and shrieked in the genre's characteristic depraved fashion. The production is fittingly primitive. In nearly 35 minutes Vitsaus manage to sound more convincing and depraved than the majority of similar releases that continue to flood the market each year in frightening numbers. Where a lot of acts rely on nostalgia and gimmickry to sell their product, this Finnish duo prove that authentic music is hard to deny.
