Rites Of the Pentagram/Metal Of Death - The Advocation of Murder and Suicide (ep)

Wydane przez Ibex Moon RecordsRok wydania Kraj USANapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Gravehill - Rites Of the Pentagram/Metal Of Death - The Advocation of Murder and SuicideDebuting on the label operated by Incantation vocalist/guitarist John McEntee Anaheim, California's Gravehill is another solid addition to his artist roster. Inspired by monuments such as Autopsy, (early) Death, Incantation and the early Stockholm death metal sound Gravehill bring the best of both worlds. The vocals remind of (early) Necrophagia while the drumming is reminiscent of both Chris Reifert (Autopsy, ex-Death) and Bill Andrews (Massacre, ex-Death). Most famous member of Gravehill is drummer Rhett Davis who cut his teeth in doom metal combo Morgion. The vocals are spitted out brash and in a sickly depraved manner. The mostly midpaced attack gives the song place to grow and evolve while rather technical and frantic leads/solos add an instant dose of Teutonic thrash energy. This is a re-release of Gravehill's debut album and EP, originally distributed by Enucleation Records. The cover art was drawn by the inimitable Mike Riddick (Arsis, Corpsefucking Art, Fatalist, Hirax) and is impeccable and stylish. The production is raw and pretty much in vein of Autopsy's first record "Severed Survival" or Death's classic debut "Scream Bloody Gore". Ibex Moon have done an admiral thing releasing this album and EP in one package, hopefully Gravehill will continue this no-frills trendkilling direction in future releases.
