Ibex Moon Records is on a mission to bring the classic death metal sound back to the masses. Originally released independently in 2008 Ibex Moon is now re-releasing "Beyond the Threshold Of Death" with improved artwork plus a rendition of Dismember classic 'Casket Garden'. Lifeless plays a mostly Swedish take on the genre with some minor American overtones. Inspirations seem to be Dismember, Grave, Nihilist and Unleashed. While the record is never going outside of the known classic Swedish death metal territory the conviction and execution make up for that a lot. Lifeless isn't out to change the genre, that much is obvious. The true-to-form delivery, the fittingly primitive production values and the classic artwork make this an ideal throwback record to the days when this genre reigned supreme. The production is baroque and rough around the edges, some minor tweaking could have improved a lot. The mastering was done by Vesa Kenttäkumpu (Evocation). Ibex Moon Records continues to do everything in it's power to force a return to the genre's more classic days. For that alone, they should be applauded. Lifeless is a good addition to the label's roster, hopefully their second record will show what they are truly capable of.
