Black metal from Würzburg, Bavaria featuring two members from metalcore act Fuck Your Shadow From Behind. Unlike their mainband this side-project isn't nearly as obsolete. This band specializes in bass-heavy hyperspeed black metal in tradition of Dark Funeral, Immortal, Marduk, Setherial and the likes. Der Weg Einer Freiheit infuses their lightning fast attack with well-placed atmospheric slower sections and the session drums by Christian Bass (ex-Heaven Shall Burn) are far better than some of the band's contemporaries in the genre. While the band masters their craft more than good enough there isn't a lot of whole lot going on that sets Der Weg Einer Freiheit apart from their more evil and corpse painted brethren. The record is sung entirely in German, so are the production notes in the booklet. This band has the potency to become something special if their founders are able to concentrate on it full-time. As things are now, this is a fun little side-project that easily eclipses the members' main band. The drums were recorded at Bradbury Barracks Studios. The artwork, design and lay-out are nothing special. Overall is "Der Weg Einer Freiheit" a commendable high speed black metal record that retains enough melody and atmosphere to not scare novice listeners away.
