"Satanic Blasphemies" is a compilation long overdue for the die-hard Necrophobic fan, for historical purposes. Necrophobic was formed by David "Blackmoon" Parland a few years prior to formulating his black metal project Dark Funeral. This noble box compiles Necrophobic's much sought after 1989 "Realm Of Terror", 1990 "Slow Aphyxiation" and 1991 "Unholy Prophecies" demo tapes plus their 1993 EP "The Call" on CD. The band's second demo "Slow Aphyxiation" sold around 1000 copies when it was released in 1990. "Unholy Prophecies", released in April 1991, marked the first Necrophobic classic cut with 'The Unholy Prophecies' (which later also appeared on their 1993 debut "The Nocturnal Silence") and was the band's first venture into Sunlight Studios in Stockholm. 200 copies were pressed and spread by the band, while later controversial US label Wild Rags Records went on to press 5000 more copies. In 1993 followed "The Call" EP, featuring three tracks which later also appeared on the band's proper debut "The Nocturnal Silence" of the same year, establishing the band further. It also includes the short instrumental 'Shadow Of the Moon', which was supposed to be on the band's 1993 debut, but due to pressing errors only appeared on some, and not all, pressings and territories. Notably, this EP features artwork by Urban Skytt, who would later make a name for himself in grindcore and death metal acts Nasum, Regurgitate and Crucifyre. All three demos feature vocals of early frontmen Stefan Zander, Stefan Harrvik and Anders Strokirk, as current frontman Tobias Sidegård was bassist solely back in the band's earlier days. For all intents and purposes this box forms a nice historical document of a band that never truly strayed too far from its roots, despite its main composer's absence.
