Since 1993 Nominon have been pledging their alliance to the old school death metal sound, long before it became a trend and was popularized to the masses by all-star bands such as Bloodbath, Chaosbreed and Death Breath. "Monumentomb" is the band's fourth record and their first featuring new vocalist Henke Skoog. His vocals are somewhere between Johnny Hedlund (Unleashed) and Dave Ingram (ex-Benediction, ex-Bolt Thrower). As with past album this record bring Swedish death metal in the tradition of Dismember, (early) Entombed, Nihilist and Unleashed. All the cuts here a crunchy intense numbers that, while never going into overdrive, harness all the darkness and gloom one has come to associate with the Swedish death metal sound of old. 'Mountain Of Hate' is the fastest track of the record. Recorded at Necromorbus Studio in Stockholm, Sweden with producer Torje Sterna (Demonical) the production is crisp only the drums could have sounded more organic. The morbid artwork by Chris "Thorncross" Moyen (Archgoat, Coffins, Incantation, In Aeturnum, Necromessiah, Sathanas) is great as ever. By no means revolutionary, but Nominon are the real thing in a scene oversaturated with hobby projects and third-rate throwbacks.
