In the wake of Pathology signing to Victory Records and announcing their fourth album Kings Mountain, North Carolina death metal specialist label Comatose Music is now re-releasing the band's second album, which was released in 2005 on Australian label Grindhead Records. Generally, this is underground death metal similar to Mortician, Disgorge and Spain's Christ Denied. With former and current members from Cattle Decapitation and Disgorge the objective to blast the listener into submission is the only one that matters. The three-way vocal interaction of singer Levi Fuselier (who has since been replaced by ex-Disgorge vocalist Matti Way), drummer Dave Astor and guitarist/bassist Tim Tiszczenko is non-existent, as all three vocalists sound nearly identical. There are no great vocal lines as in "The Black Seeds Of Vengeance", "In Their Darkened Shrines" era Nile or the alternating high-low passages of classic Deeds Of Flesh or Deicide. The attack is mostly fastpaced with thick riffing and crushing grooves. The re-release comes in a deluxe quality six panel digi-pack case with a full color eight page folder. The high quality digital artwork, design and lay-out rendered by Mike Hrubovcak (Abraxas, Divine Rapture, Monstrosity, Vile) is outstanding as ever. The recording line-up of this album is also still active in studio-project Being Killed. By no means mandatory, revelatory or vital to the scene, but apparently there's a market for this as Comatose Music is releasing this worldwide again. Pick it up while supplies last.
