This act from Sundsvall, Sweden independently released the "Illuminate the Excessive" EP which was later picked up by Listenable Records for wider distribution. The EP was recorded and produced by Chris and Tommy Rehn (Angtoria). Now Soreption (an eruption of sores?) releases their debut worldwide through digital label Ninetone Records. Like their debut EP "Deteroriation Of Minds" contains technical and progressive sounding death metal like Spawn Of Possession, Decapitated and Necrophagist. The funky bass playing by Rikard Persson is reminiscent of Erlend Caspersen (Blood Red Throne) while the impressive drumming of Tony Westermark recalls original Spawn Of Possession skinsman Dennis Röndum and Nils Fjellström (Aeon, Dark Funeral). The leads/solos, on both guitars and bass, are impressive and display this band's immense technical skill and finesse. Occassionally some Meshuggah influences creep into their assault as well. The flat production is too digital and triggered making the drums sound sterile and lifeless. The stunning digital artwork was created by Raphael Santos. Soreption possess all the chops, musical wit and technical know-how to appeal to the modern death metal crowd, a pity that there's so little original about their assault.
