Throneum is an infamous duo from Poland that have been polluting the metal world with old school black/death metal since 1996 through numerous split albums and "Deathcult Conspiracy" is their fifth full length to date. This record marks the band's return to Pagan Records, who also released their second album in 2003. The vocals of Tomasz Hanuszkiewicz remind of Asphyx/Hail Of Bullets frontman Martin van Drunen. Inspired by the likes of Asphyx, Autopsy, Bestial Warlust, Celtic Frost, Necrovore and Possessed the band has created a niche for itself in its hateful, dark and brooding old school approach. The tempo is fairly low compared to earlier recordings and "Deathcult Conspiracy " sounds more menacing because of the few strategically placed high speed sections. The production is fittingly low-key with a dirty guitar tone, thundering bass lines and organic sounding drums. "Deathcult Conspiracy" barely lasts over 30 minutes, so Throneum waste no time in getting to the point and delivering the goods. If you're familiar with any of this band's earlier records, you can blindly snatch up this new one.
