A Pyre Of Lost Dreams ()

Wydane przez Head Not Found/Voices Music & EntertainmentRok wydania Kraj DenmarkNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Black Wreath - A Pyre Of Lost DreamsAtmospheric funeral doom metal from Copenhagen, Denmark featuring ex-Saturnus multi-instrumentalist Kim Larsen (who cut his teeth in The Loveless and the more folk-oriented Of the Wand and the Moon) together with two Blazing Eternity members. "A Pyre Of Lost Dreams" is funeral doom in the traditional sense with gentle fleeting melodies, waves of light soothing synthesizers, bleak funereal breaks of epic proportions and hoarse semi-grunted vocals. The weeping violin lines in 'The Black Holes Of Your Mind' recalls Martin Powell's work in (mid-era) My Dying Bride. 'Nocturnal Dominion' is the most accessible track of the record with its serene keyboard lines and atmospheric chiming bells. Although accessible remains a relative term in funeral doom standards. Stand out tracks are 'Nocturnal Dominion' and 'Solitude Rising (Missing All Exits)'. The production by Soundscape Studios and engineer Louise Nipper puts emphasis on the drums and synthesizers while giving the guitars enough bite and heaviness. In fact the production is quite similar to Shape Of Despair's "Angels Of Distress". "A Pyre Of Lost Dreams" has everything you want in this genre and more. For fans of Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, (mid-era) My Dying Bride, Shape Of Despair and Yob.
