    Slaves Of Time ()

Wydane przez Self-financedRok wydania Kraj ItalyNapisał Wouter5Komentarze (0)Criminal Side - Slaves Of TimeBologna, Italy-based thrash metal band that infuses its metal assault with light Arabic melodies and instrumentation. Opener 'Falling Sand' sounds epic, lush and cinematic before kicking into high gear. Inspired by the Bay Area thrash sound with barking hardcore vocals "Slaves Of Time" is a record that will appeal to fans of Exodus, (early) Metallica, (early) Slayer, Testament, Vio-lence and the likes. The enthusiasm is infectious, the playing adequate – but Criminal Side not yet master the fine art of songwriting as their music, despite going through a few unique twists and turns, doesn't yet takes the road less travelled and as such sounds too safe to be truly called adventurous. Most tracks sound a bit messy and despite all of the band's good intentions they tend to go nowhere. The riffs are functional, the groove is present, the bass lines thump healthily, yet there's nothing to set this band apart from the countless others in the oversaturated retro-thrash scene. The Arabic melodies and instruments could be integrated more into the songs, instead of just functioning as interludes or segueways. The leads/solos by Enrico Berti deserve a mention as well. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Michele Trasforini at Regrexion Studios. The album design and lay-out by Gianni Romanelli is fantastic and very professionally done. The artwork by Emanuela Lupacchino is a bit similar to Thanatos' 1990 thrash classic "Emerging From the Netherworld" although it is not nearly as horrific in detail and textures. "Slaves Of Time" is by no means a mandatory listen.
