Symphonic metal band from Valencia, Spain consisting of ex-Forever Slave members. On their fist official recording "Unleashed" Innerfate sound like a consistently heavier Lacuna Coil. The riffing on both guitar and bass are blistering and remind of Echoes Of Eternity, although this band is not nearly as progressive in execution. 'Echoes Of A Dream' and 'Inner Battlefield' are the heavier and more dynamic cuts of the demo, with the former featuring gruff male guest vocals. 'Broken World' and 'Circles Of Despair' sound like "In A Reverie" era Lacuna Coil. 'What Have I…' is a semi-ballad in tradition of "Lovelorn" era Leaves' Eyes, minus the ethnic instrumentation. The main focus of this demo is vocalist Mara, who's enchanting vocals (although not operatic in any sense) are similar to Cristina Scabbia's contralto. The production by the band's home studio is more than perfectly adequate, although the drums sound sterile and the guitars could use a bit more definition instead of its current fuzzy sound. Innerfate will be best of letting a professional producer, such as Waldemar Sorychta of Woodhouse Studio, Terje Refsnes of Sound Suite Studio or Alexander Krull of Mastersound Recordings, mix and master their future recordings to reach their utmost potential. The artwork isn't much write home about and is an issue the band will need to address once they come around to writing and recording their first full length release. With today's symphonic (or female-fronted as it is called these days) scene being as crowded as it is, Innerfate have delivered an admirable first recording that sees them branching out of the genre's all too narrow perimeters. "Unleashed" is a solid piece of symphonic metal – but Innerfate is capable of so much more we've yet to hear.
