Seven years after their last record "Prophecy Of Doom" Belgian doom metallers Insanity Reigns Supreme return with their ultimate and most ambitious opus to date. From opener 'Death Cult Manifest' it's clear that this third record is an all around more brutal, dynamic and engrossing affair. The title track and 'Deus Serpentis' have minimal soaring female backing vocals provided by former Natan keyboardist/flutist/vocalist Claudia Michelutti. The vocals of frontman Criz Jamers are more varied than ever, alternating grunts with rasps and whispers. The return of the sparse female vocals also ties this record back to the band's illustrious debut "…And Darkness Drowned the Land Divine". 'Legion' and 'Dark From the Soul' are the most brutal tracks the band has ever penned with the latter like 'Deus Serpentis' before it incorporating selective blast-sections. 'Worship' even includes some light black metal riffing and chord progressions. Recorded at Stage One Studio in Borgentreich, Germany (Belphegor, Dew-Scented, Krisiun, Legion Of the Damned) and featuring artwork by the acclaimed Seth Siro Anton (Devian, Exodus, Moonspell, Paradise Lost, Septicflesh) "Occultus Insanus Damnatus" is one of the best Belgian, if not, international doom metal records this year. Limited edition comes in a slipcase with alternate artwork plus an Insanity Reigns Supreme amulet. This is Insanity Reigns Supreme's opus magnum and the best release on Shiver Records thus far.
