    Dystopian Prophecies ()

Wydane przez Crashlanding RecordsRok wydania Kraj HollandNapisał Wouter7Komentarze (0)Massive Assault - Dystopian PropheciesWith a sound similar to influential Swedish acts as Nihilist, (early) Dismember, Unleashed, Grave and Carnage, Dutch brutalizers Massive Assault are not out to revolutionize the genre. Instead they revel in the good old Stockholm sound and do not compromise in any way. "Dystopian Prophecies", the band's first full length venture, will not go down in the history books as a vital recording compared to classics as "Like An Everflowing Stream", "Clandestine" or "Where No Life Dwells", what it does do is delivering the most convincing take on the Swedish sound in a long while. This is stomping, grooving and insanely catchy death metal with barked vocals, buzzsaw guitars, powerful grooves and little in the way of subtlety. Vocalist Jos Kracht shouts his grunts pretty similar to Altar's Edwin Kelder. The guitar tone is crunchy and heavy while the bass guitar remains audible. Once again recorded in guitarist Fredde Kaddeth's home studio the production is similar to the work of the more established Harrow Studios in Losser. The artwork of "Dystopian Prophecies" by Marald isn't really much worth mentioning, an artist like Andreas Marschall, Dan Seagrave or Michael Whelan could have done so much more with this concept. Massive Assault have come into their own since the "Conflict" EP of a couple of years ago and "Dystopian Prophecies" is a fine platter of Swedish death metal in the old school tradition.
