A demo collection of this Swedish combo's 2005 and 2008 demos. Insult's most recent material is placed first and thus the "Axiom" demo opens this collection. Notably the material of this demo is much better developed and mature compared to their 2005 material. "Axiom" mostly plays out as mid-to-fast paced American and Swedish death metal with slithering solos, light black metal melodies and Corpsegrinder like growling. The production of "Axiom" by Holken Studio is much better compared to the raw stripped down production of 2005's "Decree". Of the "Axiom" sessions the slow building and utterly dark 'Manhunt' is definitely the highlight. The 2005 demo is much more bass-heavy and generally rawer and stripped down on every level. The vocals here sound as a mix between George "Corpsegrinder" Fischer (Cannibal Corpse, ex-Monstrosity) and Sylvain Houde (ex-Kataklysm). The production is typically for a '90s demo and is reminiscent of Kataklysm's "The Mystical Gate Of Reincarnation". The fact that they were able to re-create this authentic sound of fantastic. Insult a fine addition to the growing neo-old school movement and if "Abysmal Incantations" is any indication, this band has yet to have their finest hour.
