Being announced at least as far back as 2007 Belgian technical death metallers Prejudice have had their share of bad luck trying to get this follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed "Dominion Of Chaos" released. The drumming by Christophe Piette is far less busy and complex compared to former drummer Frank Vangeneugden. The dual vocals by Erik Lemmens and Chris Van der Valk (ex-Blo.Torch) alternate beautifully, although Van der Valk's venomous hisses and rasps take some time to get used to. Compared to "Dominion Of Chaos" the tempo is generally lower here and the intricate dynamics, whirlwind riffs and twisted leads/solos are more accentuated because of this deliberate shift in tempo. The new material is jaw dropping its mix of technicality, complexity and brutality while the re-recorded material (especially the band's self titled ideological vessel 'Prejudice') take on a new life all its own. The sped up cover of Death's 'Lack Of Comprehension' feels a bit out of place as you expect a band like this to cover bands like Hate Eternal or Psycroptic. Recorded at Excess Studio in Rotterdam, Holland and mixed by Chris Van der Valk at Home-Grown Productions and mastered by Colin Davis (Vile) at Imperial Mastering in Pacheco, California. The outstanding artwork by Pär Olofsson (Mortal Decay, Odious Mortem, Psycroptic) is nothing short of breathtaking and the excellent design and lay-out by Killustrations make this one of the band's most accomplished releases. "Megalomanic Infest" was definitely worth the wait, now it remains to be seen whether this band has decided to hang it up in the wake of this release.
