The band is fronted by Nick Goodyear (vocals, drums). Journeyman bassist Jesse Jolly (ex-SWWAATS) delivers an admirable performance here. The keyboards, pianos and synthesizers form a prominent part of the sound yet they are the weakest link in the production. The drum production is sterile and lacks punch. Promethean Horde are somewhat similar to Fort Lauderdale, Florida symfo-death/black combo Infernaeon in that they feature relatively established names in a whole new musical setting. While both bands don't lack in technical chops the music of "Bring Forth the Fires" is amateurish and embryonic at best. At no point do Promethean Horde approach the cosmic lunacy of Limbonic Art, the progressive grandeur of Emperor, the brooding malice of (early) Hecate Enthroned or the delusional indulgence of Dimmu Borgir. Recorded in Diet Of Worms Studios by Nick Goodyear and mixed and mastered by Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez the drums sound impotent, the keyboards lack presence (although they are an important part of the band's sound) - only the guitars and bass sound truly menacing. Goodyear would be better of tracking drums in one of Florida's established studios; be it Audiohammer, Mana Studios or the legendary Morrisound facilities. The lack of stimulating artwork is another facet that the band needs to address in future releases. Not at all a threat to its European peers Promethean Horde are still quite far away from dominating the symphonic death/black metal scene.
