Bloodline Severed
Visions Revealed ()

Initially released independently by the band, but later re-worked and remastered for wider release by Bombworks Records. Melodic death metal with like Dark Tranquillity, mid-era In Flames and pre-"Reinkaos" era Dissection from Winston Salem, North Carolina. Vocals vary from tough-man shouts, grunts to shrieks and the occasional clean sung passages. Bloodline Severed know their way around their instruments and the trio of vocalists make this sound a bit as (early) Into Eternity, although they never truly reach quite that level of compositional skill and vocal interaction. Every once in a while Amy Lynn Corzine will provide some angelic chants, but she's not used often enough to truly warrant any attention. Bloodline Severed are practicing Christians and their lyrical content clearly shows their alliance. "Visions Revealed" isn't a terrible original album as the foundations for this genre were laid in Sweden 15 years ago. But even for American standards Bloodline Severed are a bit late to ride the coattails of the Swedish melo-death craze that struck the continent in the late 1990's and the subsenquent flood of faceless metalcore acts that adopted these very traits as their own. This re-issue has new artwork by Darkwave Art and fits the record much better than its original artwork. Recorded at Corsyns Studio by vocalist/guitarist Derek Corzine. Drums recorded at Safehouse Studio by Jason Franco. By no means revolutionary or mandatory, but "Visions Revealed" is a good little Gothenburg death metal record.
