As a teaser to their album of the same name Liverpool, UK blackish doom metal quintet Dragged Into Sunlight release this three track promo. 'Boiled Angel', 'Buried With Leeches' and 'Volcanic Birth' sound as a nuclear spawn of Goatwhore, Khanate and early British death metal pioneers Benediction. In the faster tracks the band's death metal basis shines through convincingly. The pondering funeral doom sections are reminiscent of drone/noise maestros Khanate, (early) High On Fire and the likes while the more punkish sections remind of Today Is the Day. Filled with samples and schizophrenic vocals that range from screams to grunts and rasps Dragged Into Sunlight are extremity incarnate. Produced by Tom Dring and Billy Anderson "Hatred For Mankind" comes with a fitting minimal production that retains enough clarity and heaviness while maintaining the primitive cavernous effect that this music calls for. Artwork by Justin Bartlett (Sunn, Gorgoroth), Mike Diana (Iron Monkey, Autopsy) fit splendid with the bestial musical content. Not for the squamish or the faint of heart but those looking expand their boundaries of extremity are highly advised to check this band out.
